Kristen Stewart Says She Feels "Sheltered" Playing Late Princess Diana

Princess Diana (opens in new tab) always had a natural gift for touching and connecting with people, and that remains true more than 20 years after her death.

In a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Kristen Stewart (opens in new tab) opened up about how she feels about the late Princess Diana, whom she plays in the upcoming biopic "Spencer" (opens in new tab). [Stewart, who was only 7 years old when Princess Diana died, said, "I didn't grow up the same way she did. I was really young, so I didn't know what was going on." It was hard not to want to protect her. She was so young."

Stewart's film looks inward rather than simply rehashing the biographical details of Diana's life. [My film takes place over three days and really poetically internalizes what it was like, rather than giving new information," Stewart said. Stewart said."

With these three days expected to be the days leading up to Diana's realization that she was ending her marriage to Prince Charles (opens in new tab), it makes sense to focus on what must have been going on in her head and heart.

No release date has been set for "Spencer" yet, but filming is expected to begin in early 2021. Stewart's full interview with Kimmel (in which she also discusses recreating Diana's iconic hair) is below:
