Chrissy Teigen and John Legend talk about their grief over the loss of baby Jack.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend (opens in new tab) spoke candidly about their grief in their first joint interview since the loss of their son Jack in September, late in Teigen's pregnancy. Appearing on Good Morning America (opens in new tab), they discussed how they coped with the loss and reflected on the enormous amount of public support they received.
"I definitely give myself permission to feel full and complete grief," Teigen said. 'Every day is so different. So when people ask me how I'm doing, I always tell them I'm doing okay today." She revealed that after sharing her loss, she received "thousands of letters" from those closest to her. She said, "As a woman, it's very hard to go through something like this. Obviously the father was involved and the support for both of us was so beautiful and so incredible."
"I didn't know we could go through this grief and share it. Knowing that was a very powerful experience for me." I am so grateful that my wife had the courage to do it."
"This is a lonely time for many people because we are all physically separated in many ways, and the outpouring of people's love and concern for us was really reassuring and uplifting for us," Legend continued. Teigen added. I believe that people are inherently good.
Teigen and Legend also spoke about the heartbreaking photos they shared on social media depicting their devastation after losing their son. 'I don't care if you're offended or disgusted. I can understand why some people would feel that way. They were made for people who were hurting, and John was very uncomfortable taking them."
"She really felt that one of the ways we could carry on Jack's memory was to take pictures of that moment," Legend said. I was like, 'I don't want to memorialize this pain.' But the funny thing about going through a miscarriage is that you don't get anything out of it. Because of this emptiness, I wanted to take pictures that would give me something to remember."[11
