Jewel, a wonderful story about a diverse jewelry collection

Singer/songwriter Jewel often talks about her jewelry collection, and in the latest episode of Precious Metals, she shares some of her favorite pieces, from a necklace made by her son Kase to a diamond ring her mother bought her She introduces her favorite pieces, from a necklace made by her son Kase to a diamond ring her mother bought her. As she says in the video above, most of the pieces that are special to Jewel are not "expensive" but have an emotional connection for her.

One such piece is a rose necklace given to her by her grandmother, which Jewel wore to the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards. The musician said that growing up on a farm in Alaska, she was not used to dressing up. While everyone else was dressed up, Jewel wore jeans and a vest. To me, the meaning of the rose was to keep yourself blooming in life."

The star goes on to say that her taste in jewelry is as "eclectic" as her taste in dressing and music. However, there is one item in her collection that is more bling than DIY, and that is a ring her mother bought her. Jewel talks about the significance of this ring and how it reflects her relationship with her mother, as told in Songs Are Only Half the Story (opens in new tab).

Perhaps the most interesting and fun fact Jewel shared was that her father made jewelry: you may have seen it in The Last Frontier. One of her first side jobs was making elk poo jewelry. (Of course we looked into it. To hear her talk about this unexpected hobby and check out her other jewelry collections, watch the video above.
