Rizzo speaks frankly and emotionally about the difficulties of fame

Throughout his career, Lizzo has been outspoken about mental health and the importance of addressing one's struggles (opens in new tab). Lizzo urged followers to "do the inner work" to resolve their difficulties, confiding that fame and money cannot solve "inner problems."

"Hey, I'm just logging on to say that you can be like the coolest, wealthiest person ever and it won't buy you fucking happiness. Money doesn't buy happiness," Rizzo said in a heartfelt TikTok, according to Cosmopolitan UK (opens in new tab). 'Fame is just a magnifying glass to the shit you already have. And if that shit is fucked up, you're going to have even more magnified fucked up shit in a situation where you don't even think it's valid.

"So I'm telling people now. If you have internal problems, if you have some kind of problem with yourself, I'm telling you to work out now. Because money, or fame, or success, or getting older is not going to fix that shit," she continued, visibly becoming more emotional. 'You just have to. Do your inner work, do your inner work, because wherever you are, it's always going to haunt you like a fucking ghost. I'm working on that too, but today is not a good day. I just want everyone to know that it doesn't have to be a good day.

In an interview with Elle last year (opens in new tab), Rizzo reflected on her previous inability to open up in times of distress and how her newfound emotional candor has changed her life." When I was younger, emotionally, I was the worst communicator," she said. 'I didn't talk to my family, I didn't talk to my friends. The deeper I got into it, the harder it became to get out of it."

She said.

Learning how to ask for help was "revolutionary," she said.

"People really care about you and will help you.

"Being in those places is inevitable for me. But being prepared to go to those places, having a toolbox, knowing that I can rescue myself, has really helped me in my mental health journey."
