Taylor Swift Speaks Out After Scooter Braun Sells Her Masters for Over $300 Million

Taylor Swift confirmed on Twitter (opens in new tab) that Scooter Braun has sold the original recording rights to her first six albums, after Variety (opens in new tab) reported on Monday that Braun had earned more than $300 million in a deal with an investment fund ( opens in new tab) after the report. In a statement shared on Twitter, Swift said she was contacted by private equity firm Shamrock Holdings, which confirmed the purchase of her master recordings. She wrote, "This was the second time my music had been sold without my knowledge." Swift and Brown have been in a dispute (open in new tab) over the artist's master recordings since June 2019, when Brown bought Swift's former record label (open in new tab), Big Machine Records, and with it the rights to her first six albums The company has fallen into.
