Prince Charles allegedly told Princess Diana "I don't love you" on the eve of their wedding.

The grand royal wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana on July 29, 1981 (opens in new tab) seemed like a fantasy, but according to one of Diana's friends, the reality was far from picture perfect. Penny Thornton, an astrologer whom Diana sought advice from, revealed a startling fact in a new ITV documentary, The Diana Interview: People (opens in new tab) reports (opens in new tab): Prince Charles, the day before his wedding, told his future bride reportedly told his future bride that he did not love her.

"One of the most shocking things Diana told me was that the night before the wedding Charles told her he didn't love her," Thornton said in a documentary centered on a 1995 bomb interview with the BBC after Diana broke up with Charles. 'I think Charles didn't want to go into the wedding with a false premise. I think he wanted to go into the wedding with her.

The wedding almost didn't happen, Thornton said: "She didn't want to do the wedding at that point and considered not attending the wedding," she said.

According to royal biographer Ingrid Sward, Prince Charles felt "forced" by his father Prince Philip to marry Princess Diana (open in new tab). 'He told friends that he felt pressured into marrying Diana. You can't ...... a young girl. You can't hold her in bondage. She is only 19 years old. She's only 19. 'Charles was ...... She was frightened of her father. Charles was ...... He was frightened of his father.
