Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Launch New Arkwell Website
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are back online! The Sussex couple, who bid farewell to the Sussex royal brand after stepping down as senior royals earlier this year, have launched the website for their upcoming nonprofit organization, Archewell (opens in new tab). The nonprofit, which Meghan and Harry announced in April, will consist of a charity, educational website, support groups, mentoring, and other yet-to-be-announced projects.
Arche Well's website currently consists of only one page, a minimalist beige homepage with a breakdown of the nonprofit's name in black letters; Arche is a Greek word meaning "source of action," and Well is "a rich source or supply, a go deep place," it explains. Sussex fans can also sign up for Archewell emails to keep up-to-date on the venture's "activities and initiatives."
In April, Megan and Harry spoke to the Telegraph (open in new tab) about Archewell's plans, saying they want the nonprofit to "do something meaningful and important." In a statement, the Sussexes explained that "before SussexRoyal, the idea of 'Arche,' which means 'source of action' in Greek, was born."
"We connected with this concept of a charity we hoped to create one day, and it became the inspiration for our son's name," the royals said.
"Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word meaning strength and action with another word that evokes the deep resources that each of us must draw upon. We look forward to launching Archewell when the time comes."In June, according to royal sources, Meghan and Harry suspended the launch of the nonprofit (opens in new tab) to focus on COVID-19 relief efforts and the Black Lives Matter movement, with Archewell unlikely to launch an official project until 2021 An inside source said, "What is clear is that they want to get it done right, and there is no point in rushing. They are trying to settle into a new life, a new era. This is about doing it right and allowing them to make the difference they want to make."
