Hosting a live show is never an easy job, but hosting a live show in an empty venue is a whole other level of difficulty. But Kelly Clarkson (open in new tab) nailed it at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, keeping her personal energy level at about 11 trillion throughout the show. With the COVID-19 pandemic (opens in new tab) continuing at the Billboard Music Awards, Clarkson spent the night with the show's presenters and many of the winners and performers, but there was no live audience in the room.

Clarkson (opens in new tab), who is hosting the annual music awards ceremony for the third year in a row, opened with a rendition of Whitney Houston's (opens in new tab) classic "Higher Love," and her enthusiasm level never dropped throughout the rest of the show. Comments on Twitter commented all night long about Clarkson's energy, enthusiasm, and vocal volume (she was just as vocal as she would be in front of a screaming live audience). As Clarkson (open in new tab) said herself early in the show, she was her own hype girl.
