Meghan Markle explains why she told Archie on royal tour that she was "not okay" while breastfeeding.

Meghan Markle (opens in new tab) talks about why she didn't feel okay during her royal tour of Africa (opens in new tab) with Prince Harry and then 4-month-old son Archie Harrison (opens in new tab) in 2019.

The Duchess of Sussex recently sat down for a joint interview with her husband Prince Harry (opens in new tab) for the Teenager Therapy podcast (opens in new tab). The Sussexes appeared on the podcast, hosted by five high school seniors in Anaheim, California, to draw attention to World Mental Health Day. In keeping with the theme of the interview, Meghan opened up about how her tumultuous time in the royal family has affected her mental health (opens in new tab).

In a particularly candid moment, Meghan addressed a bombshell (opens in new tab) that she shared in an interview with then-ITV journalist Tom Bradby (opens in new tab). In the interview, which took place while she and Harry were in South Africa as part of the royal tour, Bradby asked Meghan how she was feeling, and the duchess shocked royal fans by honestly saying she was not okay. "I was tired," Meghan said about the interview (per People (opens in new tab)).

"I was about to give Archie a bath. I was exhausted."

At this point, Harry phased in to add some context to the moment.

"She was still breastfeeding at the time," he added, explaining that Meghan had run back to Archie to nurse him between official appointments during the tour.

"I didn't think about that answer. I just answered honestly," Megan explained on the podcast. 'I was tired, I didn't have a presentation. But here I am: I'm a mother with a four-and-a-half-month-old baby, and we're tired. But that's what struck a chord with people, because everyone was like, 'Are you okay?'

But here's the good news: Meghan's answer to that question (open in new tab) has definitely changed for the better as time has passed since her and Harry's royal exit.

"A year from now, I would say yes, I'm doing fine," she said.
