Nicole Kidman makes rare comment about her marriage to Tom Cruise

It is incredibly rare for Nicole Kidman to talk about her marriage to Tom Cruise (opens in new tab), which lasted from 1990 to 2001. But in a new interview with The New York Times Magazine (opens in new tab), Kidman opened up about a specific time in their relationship, when they were filming the 1999 Stanley Kubrick movie "Eyes Wide Shut."

First, Kidman denied the "fallacy" that working with Cruise was difficult on the film, which took much longer to shoot than expected. I had a lot of fun working with him. I love working with him. We had two kids and lived mainly in a trailer on the property. Stanley liked to have dinner with us sometimes, so we would make spaghetti. We worked with the best filmmakers, learned about our lives, and enjoyed being on set," she said.

"We were like, "When is this going to end?" I said. We went in thinking it was three months; it turned out to be a year, a year and a half," Kidman continued. Kidman continued, "And we were like, 'Oh my God, we're going to be there.' Stanley was not torture. Stanley was not torture. But we sat on the floor of his office and talked and watched animal videos."

Kidman further dismissed suggestions that the film's recurring theme of infidelity put a strain on her relationship with Cruise. She said, "It fits the narrative that people have come up with, but I definitely didn't see it that way. We were happily married. After that scene, we went go-kart racing. After that scene, we went go-kart racing. I don't know how else to say it. Maybe I don't have the ability to look back and analyze. Or maybe I don't want to. Interesting!
