Prince William upset that Prince Harry won't reveal Archie's godparents.
And the sibling rivalry continues (opens in new tab). According to a new book, Battle of the Brothers, the conflict between Prince William and Prince Harry is much more complicated than any of us thought (opens in new tab). One point of contention is that Prince William was upset that Harry and Meghan Markle did not reveal the identity of Archie's godparents. In an excerpt published in the Daily Mail (opens in new tab), writer Robert Lacey writes that the two had many disagreements:
"There was deception surrounding the announcement of Archie's birth. Unlike other royal births in modern times, it was done in complete secrecy: at 2 p.m. on May 6, 2019, Buckingham Palace announced that Princess Meghan had gone into labor that morning, when in fact she had safely delivered Archie eight hours earlier at 5:26 a.m. Following that, she refused to release the name of the godparents. It is still expected by the monarch, the palace, and anyone with a stake in the game that the public should be told who the "sponsor" of the new royal baby is. However, Archie's godfather's name remains a secret to this day.
According to a report in The Sunday Times (opens in new tab), the Sussexes have reportedly named Prince Harry's childhood nanny Tiggy Pettyfer (formerly Reggie Burke) as Archie's godmother and Harry's close friend and mentor Mark Dyer as his godfather. However, Harry and Princess Meghan have not confirmed this. Given their more private lives since retiring from the senior royal (open in new tab), it is doubtful that they will reveal the identity of Archie's godfather.
"Battle of the Brothers" opens in theaters on October 20.
