Chrissy Teigen and John Legend talk about the "deep pain" of losing their baby.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend lost their baby, Teigen announced on Instagram and Twitter Wednesday night. Teigen was hospitalized on Sunday after experiencing excessive bleeding and subsequently underwent multiple blood transfusions." We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we have never felt before," she wrote on Instagram, along with a series of devastating black-and-white photos from the hospital.

"Despite bags and bags of blood transfusions, we were unable to stop the bleeding and give the baby the fluids he needed," Teigen wrote. It just wasn't enough."

Teigen also shared the name she and Legend chose for the baby: Jack." We don't decide on a baby's name until the last possible moment after the baby is born, right before it leaves the hospital," she wrote. "But for some reason we had come to call this little boy in our bellies Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack has worked so hard to become a part of our little family.

"To our Jack - We are so sorry that the first few moments of your life were hit with so many complications and that we could not give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.

"We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the wonderful things we have been able to experience. But every day can't be all sunshine," Teigen concluded. On these darkest of days, we will grieve and weep. But we will hold tighter, love each other, and get through it." Legend echoed her tweet, adding, "I love you, Jack."

Teigen then tweeted. I can't believe this is real.

Several of the couple's celebrity friends offered their condolences on Teigen's Instagram post. 'We love you guys so much. Always," Gabrielle Union wrote, while Kim Kardashian commented, "We are always here for you guys and love you so much." Viola Davis wrote, "Chrissy and John, we are so sorry.
