Lupita Nyongo published a deeply moving tribute to her friend and "Black Panther" co-star Chadwick Boseman on Instagram. Boseman, who played T'Challa alongside Nyongo's Nakia, died of colon cancer on August 28.
"I struggle to think and speak about my friend Chadwick Bozeman in the past tense. It makes no sense. The news of his passing is like a punch in my gut every morning," Nyongo wrote. He "has an immortal energy, as if he has always existed before and should always be here. Chadwick was one of them.
"When I was around Chadwick, I wanted to be better. He was not afraid; he was in love. He moved quietly, carefully, without imposing himself or his ideals on others." And yet he was convinced that his life had meaning"
.
"He cared very deeply about humanity, about black people, about his people. He revitalized our pride," Nyongo wrote."
"Chadwick made the infinite his home by pushing forward and working with high purpose in the films he chose to commit to.
She concluded, "My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and his loving wife Simone: #TakeYourTimeButDontWasteYourTime."
