Mariah Carey was "very uncomfortable" with Ellen DeGeneres' pregnancy interview.
Mariah Carey opened up about her 2008 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (opens in new tab) when DeGeneres tried to get her to drink champagne and announce she was pregnant. Shortly after this interview, Carrie miscarried. The clip resurfaced on Twitter earlier this year, and allegations of a toxic atmosphere behind the scenes at the show led to an internal investigation (opens in new tab). Carrie told Vulture, "That moment was very uncomfortable. And it was really hard to wrestle with the aftermath."
[2"I wasn't ready to tell anyone because I was having a miscarriage," Carey explained." I didn't want to throw someone who was already thrown under the bus, but I didn't enjoy the moment." She added, "There was empathy that I could apply to those moments I wanted to run. But what was I to do?
DeGeneres did not mention her interview with Carey, but in a July memo to staff, she refuted allegations that her program fostered a toxic work environment. "On the first day the show started, I told everyone in our first meeting that 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' is a happy place, where no one raises their voice and everyone is treated with respect," DeGeneres said, according to CNN (opens in new tab). 'Obviously, something has changed. I'm sorry about that.
