Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle underwent rigorous security training to join the Royal Family.

Becoming a member of the royal family (open in new tab) is a daunting task. In addition to the obvious, such as having to learn royal protocol (open in new tab) and endure insane media scrutiny (open in new tab), in-law royal hopefuls must undergo an almost bizarrely intense security training program.

Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, in their bestselling royal biography Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family (opens in new tab), Meghan Markle (opens in new tab) describes the training she received before joining the royal family.

"Princess Meghan participated in a staged kidnapping, was detained in a car by "terrorists" and taken to another location, then "saved" by police officers firing fake guns (like those used in Hollywood movies) for realism," the authors write, People (opens in new tab) (open in new tab). During the mock kidnapping, "Princess Meghan was taught to relate to her enemies. She was also instructed on how to drive a car during a chase.

Not surprisingly, a source close to Meghan told the author (opens in new tab) that it was a "very tense and scary experience" for the Duchess of Sussex. No kidding. It was like watching the movie "Taken" (opens in new tab), in other words, a terrifyingly intense experience.
