Chadwick Boseman of "Black Panther" Dies at 43
"Black Panther" star Chadwick Boseman has died after a four-year battle with colon cancer. His agent released a statement Friday night saying that he had spent the last four years working as an actor while simultaneously battling the disease with surgery and chemotherapy.
"It is with immense sadness that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick was diagnosed with Stage III colorectal cancer in 2016 and had been battling the disease for the past four years as it progressed to Stage IV," the statement read. 'A true fighter, Chadwick endured it all and delivered many of the films you have come to love. From 'Marshall' to 'Da 5 Bloods,' August Wilson's 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom,' and several others were filmed during countless surgeries and chemotherapy treatments."
"Bringing King T'Challa to life in 'Black Panther' was one of the greatest honors of his career. He breathed his last at home, watched over by his wife and family. The family thanks everyone for their love and prayers and asks that you respect their privacy during this difficult time."
CORRECTION: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated Bozeman's age as 42. He was 43. This is corrected.
