Kim Kardashian "upset" with Kanye West for North West abortion comments.
Kanye West held his first campaign rally in South Carolina yesterday and worried wife Kim Kardashian and her family with his emotional and rambling speech, TMZ (opens in new tab) reported. West went on an anti-abortion rant when he talked about how he and Kardashian had considered abortion when they learned that Kardashian was pregnant with their first child.
"I almost killed my daughter. The Bible says, 'Thou shalt not kill. I remember my girlfriend calling me, screaming and crying. I was a rapper at the time, I was out and about, [and] I had all kinds of girlfriends. She was crying and ..... . for a month, two months, three months, and we talked about not having a baby. She had pills in her hand. She said, "I was in the apartment where my wife was robbed, and I had my laptop up and all my creative ideas. And God said, "If you taunt my vision, I taunt yours." ...... And I called my wife and she said, "We are going to have this baby."
West said he would not ban abortion, but would try to discourage it by offering families financial incentives to have children. He said, "At the maximum, we would give everyone who has a child a million dollars, or something like that. 'Then everybody would start having children. It's the greatest gift in life."
West also said that "Harriet Tubman didn't actually free the slaves, she just made them work for other white people," according to the Associated Press (opens in new tab), fueling vocal criticism from the crowd.
Multiple sources told TMZ that West's friends and family were "concerned, upset, and alarmed" by West's speech. These sources told the outlet that people close to West "believe Kanye desperately needs professional help and is in the midst of a serious bipolar episode, but he refuses to listen."
West admitted that he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in the past and has refused to take his medication (opens in new tab).
The Kardashians and West's friends are also concerned about the ramifications of statements like his Harriet Tubman statement.
The Kardashians are also reportedly "upset" by West's decision to go public about West and Kardashian discussing the possibility of terminating their first pregnancy.
Entertainment Tonight (opens in new tab) spoke to a source who echoed TMZ on Monday." Kim, her family, and Kanye's friends are worried about him," the source said.
"Kanye is not in good shape and no one is listening when they try to convince him to get help. Kim is angry about Kanye's outburst yesterday, especially when he talked about the possibility of having an abortion and not having North," the source continued." The source continued, "She knows this is what she's going to see when North is older, and it's heartbreaking."
The family has not addressed the gathering on social media.
