Will Xander and Yolie get together after Ultimatum: Queer Love?

One of the most complicated dynamics of "Ultimatum: Queer Love" Season 2 is a good old-fashioned love square. Xander Borger and Yolie Rojas were cast in the Netflix reality show after suffering bad luck with their longtime partners; the two fell deeply in love during a three-week trial marriage, with Yolie returning to her first partner, Mal Wright, and Xander to Vanessa Papa. Even so, Xander and Yolie were still madly in love with each other, and the question viewers had heading into the June 6 finale was whether Xander and Yolie would leave together, or whether they would remain loyal to Mal and Vanessa.

Read on to find out what we know about Yolie and Xander's current standing now that the finale and reunion are streaming on Netflix.

Yolie and Mal first went to the finale decision day after living together for three weeks following their separate trial marriages. Yolie admitted up front that she had fallen in love with Xander and was sad about the end of their relationship, but Mal wanted them to stay together and work things out. When they meet on the big day, Mal proposes to Yolie, and Yolie says yes (albeit in a roundabout way). Yolie later explains that she needs to see her relationship with Mal through, saying, "I don't love Mal the same way I love Xander."

When it is Xander and Vanessa's turn, the girlfriend of four years is very polite and tearfully says goodbye. Vanessa wants to commit to Xander after experiencing the feelings of losing her, but Xander admits that they are not on the same page and says she needs time to polish herself.

Later, Xander and Yolie have some time together. After Xander breaks up with Vanessa and tells her he wants to have a relationship with Yolie, Yolie admits that she said yes to Mal's proposal. The two end the conversation clearly hurt.

Many months after the summer of 2021, when the season was filmed, the entire cast and host Joanna Garcia Swisher (TBH, this season was a breath of fresh air) had a reunion last January. A lot happened in the meantime, but there was one thing that was most important to this season's love square: Yolie and Mal broke up, and Xander and Vanessa did not get back together (phew). Yolie and Mal explained that they broke up two weeks into their engagement, Mal called it a "happy breakup" for them, and after watching the season and seeing the whole truth about how Xander and Yolie's trial marriage went down, they opened up and said they felt betrayed. (They also commented on how the show shows that Yoli does not have a history of being honest.)

As for Xander and Yoli, at the time of the reunion, both were still single, especially Xander, who was in therapy. They both admitted that they had met when they attended Coachella, and at one point there was talk of Yoli visiting Xander in Hawaii, but that trip never seemed to happen.

Yoli and Xander did not get together in the months between the recording of the reunion and its airing; the two recently told TODAY that it seems unlikely that they will get together, with Yoli saying she is "not sure" and Xander indicating that he wants to move past his relationship with both Yoli and Vanessa.

"I'm there for [Vanessa] and so is Yolie. 'They both hold a very special place in my heart. They helped me learn and grow a lot. But that chapter in Xander's life is over, she added.

Yolie also noted that their geographical distance - Xander still lives in Hawaii, while Yolie is based in Chicago - had an impact, saying that things might have been "different" if Xander had lived closer.

They opened up about their interaction at Coachella, confirming that nothing was going on between them at the time.

"It was almost like the ship had sailed," Zander told the outlet, noting that they had both just come out of long-term relationships.

"We were at very different points in our lives at that time. So a lot of things came together. ...... I think the timelines just didn't match up."

While Xander is still single and thriving, it appears that Yoli may be in the midst of a new romance. According to Cosmopolitan UK, the stylist posted a TikTok with a mystery person. As of today, Yoli has neither confirmed nor denied whether she is with someone new.
