For Brittany Mills and Kenneth Gorham, things started so well, who on their background love bonded quickly in a blind pod, values, and religion. But after they left the pod for a tropical vacation, it all began to go downhill, and after returning to "real life" in North Carolina, their problems eventually swept into an avalanche.

Their on-screen relationship suddenly turned mid-season, but the TikTok Brittany posted before the season 6 reunion sparked speculation that things weren't completely over between her and Kenneth. Brittany and Kenneth were 1 of the first couples engaged this season. They looked like a natural pair and a great fit: they had to grow quickly and were connected in pods over both feeling like they had matured beyond their years after losing their parents at a young age. They also shared a deep commitment to their religion and both planned to wait for them to have sex until they got married. In addition, there was some overlap in their career path: Kenneth was a middle school principal and Brittany was previously a teacher (she is now a senior client at a recruitment company

but just because she was so perfectly aligned with so many things didn't mean everything was smooth sailing for the pair.) It was a great experience. When they first arrived in the Dominican Republic for a post-pod vacation, Brittany and Kenneth were still in the honeymoon phase of their new relationship - full of ear-to-ear smiles and a heartfelt promise to always check in about each other's days before going to bed. Unfortunately, they quickly began to drift away, they are seemingly at a loss for what they say to each other, as evidenced by painfully awkward scenes in which they sit in silence on a boat.

They hit another hurdle on the trip following a conversation between Kenneth and fellow contestant AD, who wondered how the couple were ready to face the challenges of interracial dating whether Brittany, a white woman, was prepared for the responsibility of raising a semi-black child with Kenneth. Kenneth continued to take up the topic during his frank conversation with Brittany, although both agreed to put the work they actually needed into their relationship, while Kenneth expressed some anxiety about how Brittany would fit into his normal life.

The pair also had problems aligning in the physical aspects of their relationship. At some point on vacation, Brittany wondered if Kenneth was attracted to her, he did not want to be sensitive, so she was not obsessed with it, while she worried that he was affectionately "choking" her.I asked Kenneth if he was attracted to her.

That disagreement continued after they returned to North Carolina, and there was an additional barrier between the couple: Kenneth's phone appeared to be he rarely looked up, even when Brittany was trying to talk to him or ask questions.

They were the first of the couple to be engaged: Their breakup came in Episode 8 of the season, not long after they moved back to Charlotte and together. At that point, Kenneth seemed more focused on his phone than Brittany, so things quickly strained between them, and she felt her appeal to him was diminishing as a result.

The parting came one night during a conversation in which Brittany again expressed her desire for physical contact from Kenneth, Kenneth almost immediately succumbed as she felt for him in the pod, although he claimed it was still there for him if the "cravings" were gone for her but they were not. Together as a whole, it was a rather anti-climate breakup, Kenneth spoke calmly until the end of the relationship while shedding tears on the face of a seemingly stunned Brittany.

The conversation ended in a hug, and Kenneth quickly picked up his phone and called a friend to escape, but Brittany kept crying quietly in the kitchen.

In a joint interview with Entertainment Tonight after the episode aired, Kenneth said he did not see the split coming and was ready to marry Brittany until that point. They also revealed that after leaving some time, they were able to rekindle their friendship.

"The night we actually ended our intimate relationship, we decided that we would actually continue to be friends," Brittany said. "We fell apart, but we learned a lot. And I think I can speak for both of us, we have a process and how it went and how it was handled

Kenneth agrees, "We are still very close because we only have a deeper understanding of who we are."

Days before the reunion episode aired, Brittany posted a video on TikTok featuring a surprise appearance by Kenneth and soon they were back together and

they cleared it all with the reunion — they adjusted their black outfits and sat on stage together. They haven't rekindled the romantic relationship, but Brittany and Kenneth said they formed a very strong friendship: "We talk almost every day," Brittany said, adding later, "The bond we have is going to last forever, and I'm happy with it."

Kenneth also addressed the Internet chatter about what he looked like by the breakup on screen and said that he was indeed a "shambles" and called fellow contestant Clay, who is crying after everything went down.

"Everyone does a different process," he said.
