Anya Taylor-Joy uses this reverse logic trick to make Oscar lipstick all night long.
The 2024 Academy Awards will last about 5 hours from start to finish. Constant photos, a lot of talking, eating, drinking and, most importantly, little or no make-up touch-ups. So how did Anya Taylor-Joy, throughout the Academy Awards, keep her bold lips flawless, without smudging, bleeding, or fading?
It had absolutely everything with make-up artist Georgie Eisdell's genius hack. "Apply the liner after the lipstick," she shares exclusively with Marie Claire. "I find it easier to blend and the liner acts as a seal. I love blend liners instead of harsh lines, so this is a great way to achieve that."
If you want to recreate Taylor-Joy's exact lip look, you'll need some important products. Number one: Dior Addict Lip Glob Balm from Minty Rose. Second: Rosewood Dior Addict lip oil. And third: nude pink Dior Rouge Dior contour lip liner. Together, the balm and oil "create a beautiful hydrating base and are the perfect discreet complement to her eyes," explains Eisdell. "We wanted to make it [her make-up] elegant and timeless," she says.
Eyes were heavy on black eyeliner and mascara, but color-adjusted with Taylor Joy lipstick. Eisdell used Rosa Mutabilis' DiorShow5Couleurs to create a soft and elegant lid. The finishing touches included DiorShow Mascara and Brow Styler, and StageCrayon, my personal favorite for making dramatic eyes.
