Daniel Brooks shares the sweet meaning behind her special 2024 Oscar manicure. 3/10 (Sun) While walking the 2024 Academy Awards red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, the color Purple Star paid tribute to black history with a special nail art, in one of the night's best beauty moments on May 1.
Brooks' long nails were coated with a sparkly decoration that contained a special meaning.
"You can get into these nails."Brooks said to E.I asked Laverne Cox, the host of the News Red carpet, and after revealing, she was wearing a Dolce & Gabbana gown.
"Yes, you can," Cox replied. "Nail Story. Can I enlarge my nails?"
"I have 26 (rhinestones) on my nails, so I'm the 26th black woman to be nominated for Best Supporting Actress," Brooks explained. "So, I at least had to respect that I would be nominated for the 26th Annual Black Women's Best Supporting Actress Award forever, whether I would go home with the award or not.
Brooks' nails were created by nail artist Temeca Jackson. The artist shared a short video of Brooks showing her nails at a pre-Oscar event on Instagram. "It is an honor to have murdered @Thedaniellebrooks.She wrote. "She's great.
Brooks is nominated in 2024 for her role in the directing of the latest film of the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in Color Purple.Brooks' comments came during a truly inspiring red carpet moment, where she reunited with her Orange is the New Black co-star Cox and her Broadway color Purple co-star Cynthia Erivo.
"It's such a perfect circle moment," Brooks said. "My career began with being orange is the new black with you, then I ended up in purple color with you on stage, now you," Brooks continued, "The dream really comes true.""We started from the bottom right now where we're really here," she continued. "We are here. It can happen. It can happen."
