Lila Moss can't resist the lip gloss craze, either.
Laila Moss has one of the most impressive pedigrees in fashion, having walked the runways from Stella McCartney to Vivienne Westwood last month in over-the-top looks (you already know the connection). But the catwalk is not her real life, and her current holy grail of beauty products could not be more understated.
With glossy, reflective lips the beauty trend of 2024, "I must always have lip gloss," she tells Marie Claire. I always carry a lip gloss like Candy Glaze."
The YSL Beauty lip gloss sticks she names are not the only indication of her longstanding affinity for the French house. (Moss did not walk its runway this season, but sat in the front row.) Candy Glaze's vitamin E and hyaluronic acid-infused formula has garnered more than 2,000 five-star reviews and 290,000 likes on Sephora since it launched this spring in more colors on Sephora. It has also gone viral (several times) on TikTok. A peek at the reviews reveals hundreds of repeated praise words such as "literally hooked," "absolute favorite," etc.
For beauty enthusiasts who are not full-time models, this lipstick/lipgloss hybrid comes in several slightly more pigmented shades that provide all-day hydration and shine. For Moss, the clear version is the only lip that she can safely wear anywhere from international flights to show days to weekends off. It's understated and versatile. Says she, "It's a natural, fairly clear shade that I just carry with me and wear all day."
Natural makeup is also at the center of Moss's beauty inspiration mood board. Moss adheres to Pamela Anderson's practice of going bare-faced and not wearing lipstick at every event.
"I don't think I'm quite there yet in terms of my skin and looking as stunning as she does without makeup," she says.
"But I think my goal is to be a little more svelte-looking and powerful in my own skin."
Thankfully, she doesn't have to give up clear gloss to achieve a peek-a-boo look. Even in her no-makeup days, Anderson applied gloss before stepping in front of the camera. (See: her glossy lips at the Vanity Fair Oscars party in 2024.)
And if you think Moss can't stop wearing a hint of shimmering gloss, she's not alone." I use this every day and am in love with it," writes one reviewer. 'I don't think I could live without it.'
