NARS' 25-Year-Old Orgasmic Blush Comes in New Colors
NARS has released dozens of beloved makeup products since its inception in 1994, but the most popular is arguably the Orgasm Powder Blush. The pale, sheer shade of pink, formulated to be buildable and easy to apply, has been a staple in makeup bags around the world since its launch in 1999. Few products have transcended generations and fashions as well as this one, which makes it all the more surprising that NARS has decided to remanufacture the pigment 25 years after its highly successful launch.
Before you panic: the original formulation is getting an upgrade, with a new formula that lasts up to 16 hours and has a pleasant weightless feel. Eight new shades have also been added, including Orgasm Edge, a peachy pink matte shade, and Orgasm Rush, a deeper shade of pink with bronze undertones and a shimmery finish (NARS makeup artist Niko Lopez's (See them in action below). Formulas throughout the blush collection, including 12 core NARS bestsellers like Deep Throat and Dolce Vita, have also been improved.
In addition to longer-lasting powder pigments, the packaging is more rectangular and refillable. The new powders also have a pearlescent finish that blurs imperfections and blends seamlessly with other makeup products.
Since these are tall promises, our beauty director (and NARS Orgasm devotee) Deena Campbell tried Orgasm Lash on for size and compared it to the original formulation.
"I've loved OG Orgasm for at least 15 years, but I have to admit I much prefer Orgasm Rush," she admits. 'Both have the perfect shimmer and color mix, but the updated version has a deep bronze-rose shade that pops more against my brown skin. I have to admit, the first Orgasm felt drying and I had to apply multiple coats. Lush delivers high-impact pigmentation with a texture that doesn't feel heavy--one or two swipes is all it takes!"
