Katie Holmes Kick-Starts the Next Big Sneaker Trend with a Casual Stroll
One look at Katie Holmes' street style look and you'll discover a valuable fashion hack. Just a few days ago, she seamlessly demonstrated how to put a sophisticated spin on the denim-on-denim trend. Shortly before that, she offered a note on cracking the code on commuter clothes.
But during her most recent outing, the beloved style icon hinted at a shoe trend that will be everywhere soon following 2024.
On Thursday, April 11, Holmes strolled through Manhattan in casual going-out clothes. The city dweller wore a beige T-shirt with embroidered Isabel Marant jeans. She slung a soft black Mansur Gavriel tote bag over her shoulder.
Holmes wore wide-framed sunglasses and dainty gold jewelry. But it was her shoes that got fashion insiders talking: she wore white sneakers embellished with black detailing, which were quickly identified as Bode x Nike Astro Grabbers (aka the soccer-inspired, unreleased trainers that sneakerheads are dying to get their hands on. (aka the unannounced soccer-inspired trainers that sneakerheads are dying to get their hands on).
The sporty shoes are the result of a collaboration between Nike and American luxury brand Bode Rec's new line of activewear. In a recent Instagram post, Nike wrote, "This partnership explores the evolution and character building of athletic wear through the lens of American organized sports and competition."
Holmes' Bode x Nike sneakers will soon be yours, too: the sporty shoes will be available at bode.com and Bode stores on April 18 for $160.
Only time will tell if these shoes will really be the next big thing. But Holmes has a keen eye for trendy trainers (she practically lives in her trusty Adidas sambas and also loves to rock chunky ponies). Bottom line' her track record strongly argues that this cleat-like sneaker is about to become the new it shoe of the year.
