Anne Hathaway, 5 years sober: "It feels like a milestone."

Anne Hathaway has talked about her sobriety before, but she further explained what it means to her.

In a new profile interview with The New York Times, the actress was asked about her attitude toward "middle age," or passing the arbitrary milestone of 40 (Hathaway is 41).

"I don't take it that seriously," she replied. 'There are plenty of other things I recognize as milestones. I don't usually talk about it, but I've been sober for over five years. That feels like a milestone to me."

For her, age is an accomplishment, not an obstacle. [40] "Forty feels like a gift," Hathaway continued. In fact, I hesitate to call things "middle age." I don't know if this is middle age. I don't know anything about it."

Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine earlier this year about her decision to quit drinking, the actress said, "Deep down, I knew it wasn't for me. And I said, 'But nothing? But none. If I was allergic to something or had an anaphylactic reaction, I wouldn't argue. So I stopped arguing."

Hathaway is now in the center of celebrity news thanks to her new film "The Idea of You" (in theaters) with Nicholas Galitzine. She is also a producer on the film, which makes it even more thought-provoking for her.
