Beyonce's eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter (12), will voice the live-action film Mufasa: The Lion King

Beyonce already voices Nala in 2019's The Lion King, and Blue Ivy will play the lion cub Kiara

This will be her film debut, although she has also appeared in Beyoncé's music video and visual album film Black is King.

"Mufasa" director Barry Jenkins spoke to Good Morning America about working with the mother-daughter duo.

"Beyoncé is a huge part of this, but when she's working with her daughter, when she's in the room with her daughter, she's a mother first," the filmmaker explained.

"A lot of that energy seeps into the film."

It is not hard to see why it made sense for Bay and Blue to voice together in the film.

"I think for them, they both wanted to perform and do their best," Jenkins said. Jenkins said."

"I think it's a good thing for them. I was so happy that Beyoncé and Blue Ivy were willing to do it, and it was really special to see them work together."

He continued.

The "Moonlight" director also explained that he realized that the 12-year-old was the perfect "professional" and that she would make the perfect Chiara when he heard her narrate the audiobook of the New York Times best-selling picture book "Hair Love.

"Mufasa" opens in theaters on December 20.
