Prince Charles meets with David Beckham after turning down time with his son, Prince Harry.
King Charles reportedly met with soccer legend David Beckham after turning down time with his son Prince Harry. According to a report in The [Times], Prince Charles hosted a "private" meeting with Beckham on Friday, May 10. Beckham is believed to have "visited" Prince Charles to "learn more" about the King's Foundation, King Charles' charity.
The educational charity was established in 1986 by the King (then Prince of Wales) to teach and demonstrate principles of urban design and architecture.
The private visit raises the proverbial eyebrows, as it comes just days after Prince Charles declined to meet with his son Prince Harry while the Duke of Sussex is back in London to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his beloved Invictus Games.
"In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation as to whether the Duke will meet his father while he is in the UK this week, unfortunately Her Majesty's program is packed and he is unable to meet," Prince Harry's spokesman said in a statement to The Telegraph.
"The Duke, of course, is aware of his father's timetable and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon," the statement continued.
The Duke of Sussex had reportedly invited the royal family, including Prince Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton. None of them accepted his invitation.
Instead, King Charles and members of the royal family attended the first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace, a few miles away. As a result, Prince Harry attended a thanksgiving service at St. Paul's Cathedral, flanked by the siblings of his late mother, Princess Diana.
Prince Harry attended the service and apparently sent his father a casual word of thanksgiving. The Duke of Sussex wore four medals on his jacket: the Order of Merit for Operations in Afghanistan, Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee Medal, Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee Medal, and Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee Medal, The Mirror reported.
He declined to wear the King's Coronation Medal.
A royal source claimed that the rift between the royal father and son was a direct result of Prince Harry's pressure on Prince Charles to "choose" between his son and his wife, Queen Camilla.
"Harry has made things very difficult by saying cruel and hurtful things about Camilla," a source told The Daily Beast. 'Charles loves his sons, but he also loves his wife. The last few months have made it clear how important she is to him.
