Royal insider claims Prince Harry "forced" Prince Charles to choose between his son and Queen Camilla.
A source close to the royal family tells us the real reason for the strained relationship between King Charles and Prince Harry. For those who haven't been following the latest patriarchal drama closely, let's catch up: the Duke of Sussex recently returned to London to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his favorite Invictus Games. Royal fans and the media were quick to speculate whether Prince Harry would have time to spend with his father, King Charles, especially in light of the King's ongoing cancer diagnosis and treatment. Unfortunately, father and son never crossed paths. Instead of attending Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral, the King spent time at the first palace garden party of the year, held just a few miles away from his son's event.
"In response to many inquiries and continued speculation as to whether the Duke will meet with his father during his stay in the UK this week, unfortunately he will not be able to, as His Majesty the King's program is packed," a spokesman for the Duke of Sussex told The Telegraph.
"The Duke, of course, is aware of his father's timetable and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon," the spokesman continued.
Now a friend of the royal family claims that Prince Harry has essentially "forced" his father to choose between the Duke of Sussex and his wife, Queen Camilla.
"Harry has created a very difficult situation for himself by saying cruel and hurtful things about Camilla," the source told The Daily Beast. 'Charles loves his sons, but he also loves his wife. The last few months have made it clear how important she is to him.
"Harry has openly made it clear that he despises her," the source continued.
"He forced Charles to make a choice, and it was a very foolish one.Royal biographer Robert Jobson further explained that Prince Harry told The Sun that he "did not praise Queen Camilla much in his book Spare," adding to the family strife.
"In [Harry & Meghan's documentary] Netflix, he didn't praise her much. They don't get along," he continued. 'Secondly, they don't have much contact. It brings a level of complexity and drama that he [the King] doesn't need right now."
[16The Mirror reported that there had been some "difficult" negotiations over a possible parent-child meeting, including whether or not Queen Camilla could or would attend.
"We know that Prince Charles prefers to have Queen Camilla present to meet Harry, but that is not necessarily a popular decision," the magazine reported at the time, and Prince Harry reportedly did not want his mother-in-law present
"Harry also has no wife Therefore, this made it difficult," it added.
