Even the possibility of Meghan Markle writing a memoir similar to "Spare" seems to "fill King Charles with dread."

While there is no official confirmation that Meghan Markle is working on a memoir, it is certainly a hot topic of conversation. After all, Prince Harry's Spare, released in January 2023, was a bestseller, and the public is definitely interested in Meghan's story (if not more).

According to royal author Tom Quinn, the thought of a book of Princess Meghan's confessions being published does not fill Prince Charles with great excitement and joy. The King is said to be concerned about the publication of Princess Meghan's memoir, especially knowing that his son, Prince Harry, will be involved in it in some way. (For the record, the father-son relationship is a bit frosty right now.)

According to the Mirror, Princess Meghan's potential book is believed to be in preparation for the launch of her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. According to Quinn, Prince Charles is particularly fearful of private conversations becoming public: "When King Charles heard that his son was planning to return for the Invictus Games, he said that if he saw Harry, he would have to have Harry check first to see if he had recorded their conversation. I joked that he would have to check Harry first to see if he had recorded their conversation," Quinn said. And of course, this is not a matter of joking on many levels."

Harry was in the UK this week for the Invictus Games 10th anniversary celebrations, but the King did not make time to see him. Harry's brother, Prince William, has the worst reputation, but Prince Charles is also not portrayed in a good light in "Spare," and "there were reports that he [Harry] was working on a follow-up book," the Mirror reported. However, this plan was reportedly scrapped due to the damage "Spare" had done to Harry and Charles' relationship.

Harry said he had enough material for a second volume of "Spares," but what he could tell (and what was left on the cutting room floor from the first iteration of over 400 pages) would likely end his relationship with his father and brother, for good. While Kensington Palace and Clarence House breathed a sigh of relief that Harry had abandoned his second book, following his bestseller "Spare," the focus has now shifted to Princess Meghan," Quinn says. 'King Charles now fears that whatever he says to his son may end up in a book written by Queen Meghan.' [Writing a tell-all book would be a shrewd business move for Meghan, who continues to expand her empire, not only with her new lifestyle brand but also with her ongoing Netflix deal (which she shares with Harry) and her podcast with Lemonada Media, Quinn Quinn added.

"As Meghan strives to make her new online business, The American Riviera Orchard, a personal memoir of her days in Britain as active royalty, she knows it will sell millions of copies and bring in the kind of big bucks she craves," Quinn said. 'She is also acutely aware that such a book would only increase traffic to her new online business. Because Harry would be a major contributor to that book.
