King Charles has made a rather sharp move against Prince Harry.

On Tuesday, the King announced that he will officially hand over the role of Regimental Colonel of the Army Air Corps, the regiment in which Harry served in Afghanistan, to Prince William.

"His Majesty the King is formally handing over the role of Colonel of the Army Air Corps to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales," a statement from Buckingham Palace said (via Harper's Bazaar).

"In August 2023, upon His Majesty the King's accession to the throne, the King announced a number of military appointments, including the appointment of the Prince of Wales as Colonel of the Army Air Corps. This position had been held by His Majesty the King for 31 years as Prince of Wales.

According to The Independent, this role would likely have been filled by Harry had he not stepped down from his royal duties.

Harry has not been an active royal since 2020, but what has raised eyebrows is the timing of the announcement: not only was it made on the day Harry landed in the UK, but it was also revealed that his father had declined to meet with Harry, citing his busy schedule. The Duke also reportedly has not spoken to William in months, making the timing of this announcement seem more deliberate.

This is not the first time that the timing of the King's decision regarding Harry has felt like an attempt to be snide toward the Duke: In 2023, Prince Charles reportedly told the Sussex family that he would remove them from Frogmore Cottage the day after Harry's memoir, Spare, was released

At one point, the Sussexes were reportedly asked to leave Frogmore Cottage.

At one point it appeared that a reconciliation between Charles and Harry was on the horizon, but it is felt that this latest blow may have been too soon to think so.
