Selena Gomez weeps after receiving a few minutes at the Cannes Film Festival - a long standing ovation

Singer and actress Selena Gomez broke down in tears after her latest film was very well received at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

On Saturday, 5/19, Bill Star's new film, the only murder in Emilia Perez, debuted at the iconic festival and received the longest ovation of any film ever received at this year's event.Variety reports.

Gomez shed tears at the publication's report as her co-stars shared emotional hugs, the audience applauded, cheered and whistled at what the ws praised.

Emilia Perez is staring at Spanish dramas and musicals Gómez, Zoe Saldana and Carla Sofia Gascon. The film centers on a lawyer (played by Saldaña) who is tasked with helping a cartel boss retire and disappear. Gomez plays the unsuspecting wife of a cartel boss.

To commemorate her hit film, Gomez walked the red Carpet in Cannes and wore a stunning off・the-shoulder Saint Laurent gown in Erin Walsh's style.

The show-stopping look featured a black pillar shape with a wrap-like draped white neckline that drew the energy of several major movie stars and she completed the iconic look with an intricate diamond choker necklace and Bulgari drop earrings.

According to Variety, the standing ovation of the audience at the Cannes Film Festival lasted 9 minutes. However, Deadline reported that the ovation lasted an incredible 11 minutes, writing that the applause lasted another 2 minutes after director Jacques Audiard "took the microphone to thank the audience."

Variety, formerly known as Twitter, Gomez said she was already a "big fan" of the film's director Audiard, showing Gomez covering her wide smile, thanking the audience as the camera pans on her face and showing a very emotional Saldaña. Further excitement at the project after reading the crypt

"It was fascinating, heartbreaking and really touching to me," she said at the time. "I had a blast and I love singing. I think they are really beautiful.”
