Tom Brady Admits he regrets 'How the Netflix Roast Affected My kids'

Tom Brady has some regrets about the recent Netflix roast.

The former quarterback is always happy to laugh at himself, but even indirectly, when it is his child who is in the firing line, he does not love.

"I liked when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so much fun," Brady explained on this week's Pivot podcast. "I didn't like the way it affected my children."

Some of the jokes made during the roast included a jab at ex-wife Gisele Bünchen's romance with her jiu-jitsu instructor, with Brady non-retiring from the Nfl and precipitating his divorce, Brady and ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan saying she was pregnant. They broke up while they were together (they didn't know at the time).

Brady and Bünchen share children Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 11, while he and Moynahan share son Jack, 16.

After the Netflix special was filmed, one source claimed that Bündchen was "deeply disappointed" by the whole thing. "As always, [Bündchen's] priority is to help her children affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcast," the source told people last week.

Speaking of pivots, Brady said, "That's the hardest part — like the bittersweet side of when you do something that you think is one way, and suddenly you realize, "I don't want to do it again because of the way it actually affected the people I care most about in the world." I'm not going to do that.

Retired athletes say they have learned an important lesson from roasts. "That's a good lesson for me as a parent," he said. "I'm happy because of it, I'm going to be a better parent as I move forward, and at the same time everyone who was there had a lot of fun.""

He said, "If we're not laughing about things, we're crying."
