Pink is not interested in replacing Katy Perry with "American Idol", "I like my day job" says
Pink will just give a reason why she does not replace Katy Perry as the judge of American Idol anytime soon.
The "Trustfall" singer is not interested in taking Perry's newly vacant place along with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, she told Entertainment Tonight at an event in Los Angeles on Monday.
"I don't like hurting people's feelings," Pink explained, and honestly — she's me. She added that she was "not set" to give criticism to aspiring musicians.
However, Pink is not against the concept of idols; she said she likes the idea of helping young singers reach their full potential, but the show is not just for her. "I like my day job," she said simply, and like, fair.
The pop star has been a successful recording artist since the early 2000s and she has shown no signs of slowing down. Her latest album, Trustfall, was released in 2023 and reached number one on Billboard's top album sales chart. The record gave us a series of bangers, including the song "Trustfall"."
The tour is also a big part of Pink's career, and the singer is back on the road for a few months from May 6.
Perry announced on May 2 that he would step down from Idol after 7 seasons.
The "fireworks" singer, who spoke to ET on May 4, said, "I'm just trying to make space for other things. That doesn't mean I'm going to end this show, which is great, but I'm going to retire to the island. I'm going to go to work."
Perry wouldn't say exactly what she's working on, but she's been teasing new music for weeks on Instagram. For example, 5/6, she skipped the Met Gala to spend time in the studio instead. i can't wait.
