Royal experts claim that this upcoming "upper-class" wedding is the perfect time for Prince William and Prince Harry to "make amends
According to one royal expert, the upcoming royal wedding could double as a way to bring estranged brothers Prince William and Prince Harry together.
As the Daily Mail points out, Hugh Grosvenor (1 of Britain's richest men and the 7th Duke of Westminster) is married to Olivia Henson at 6/7. The incident is reported to be the "most lavish" of the year, and will undoubtedly be attended by more than a few royals.
Grosvenor is also a dear friend of both Prince Harry and Prince William. In fact, Grosvenor is the Godfather of Prince Harry's son, Archie.
According to royal insiders, both were invited to the wedding. But as the Daily Mail reports, the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle have since refused to attend.
"It's incredibly sad that we've come to this," said a close friend of Grosvenor. "Hugh is one of William and Harry's few close friends and has maintained a strong bond with both.
Friends kept saying that Grosvenor "wants" his brothers to be able to "put their heads together and fix things," but those planning to become grooms are clearly aware that such a scenario is unlikely.
"He didn't want awkwardness, especially for Olivia, because he wanted to avoid anything that would cast a shadow on the day," the friend continued.
Liz Jones, a British journalist and royal expert, writes in the Daily Mail that the opportunity for reconciliation remains and that the famous wedding is a great place for the brothers to come together.
"It's like a game of Twister, a tangled web of turbulent toff sadly pulled apart," Jones wrote. "William is beaming outwardly, but in fact you will feel great sadness that you can't share such a happy day.
Recently, Prince Harry has returned to the UK to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his beloved Invictus games. Despite his close proximity to his family, he was clearly "too busy" to spend time with his brother, see his brother, or meet his father, King Charles, his son.
"In response to numerous inquiries and ongoing speculation about whether the Duke would meet with his father while in the UK." This week, unfortunately, it will be impossible for His Majesty's full program," a spokesman for Prince Harry said via the Telegraph.
Jones points out that weddings are usually the time for "family and friends" to "put aside differences and quarrels and find ways to smile and raise their faces."
"It was so disappointing and the opportunity was lost," she added. "The front page pictures of William and Harry are suitable and slapping each other on the back brings a national sigh of relief after so many difficult years"
