Photos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been added to the National Portrait Gallery
Photos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are officially part of the world's largest portrait collection.
On Thursday, May 23, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's frequent photographer and close friend Misan Harriman posted a slew of festive photos and videos to his personal Instagram account, announcing that the photos he took of the couple have been added to the famous National Portrait Gallery's photo collection.
"I am humbled and proud to announce that my portraits of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now part of the Permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery," Harriman captured the post, which featured his now famous photographs, as well as black and white photographs themselves and snapshots of photographers.
In the portrait, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stand side by side, holding hands as they look forward to and prepare to take the stage at the One Young World Summit in Manchester, England, on May 9. 5, 2022.
This photo was taken just 3 days before Prince Harry's late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died.
At the time the photographs were taken, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had already moved away from their roles as senior royals and had moved from the UK to California in the wake of ongoing threats and security concerns.
The pair were returning to the UK to attend the One Young World Summit in Manchester. After Queen Elizabeth's death, the royal couple remained in England to attend the funeral of the late monarch and the Royal patriarch.
According to a spokesperson for the National Portrait Gallery who spoke to people, "There is no immediate plan to display images of Prince Harry and Meghan.Instead, the spokesperson added that the photo goes through the gallery's cataloging process before it becomes available.
Harriman earned many of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's most memorable milestones, including when he announced in 2021 that he was expecting the first birthday of his 2nd child, Princess Lilibet, and daughter.
2 May, the photographer told people that Markle "Really is my sister."
"I was so lucky to be able to photograph many special moments with her and her husband and her family," he added.
Recently, Harriman accompanied the royal couple on a 3-day trip to Nigeria. The photographer shared a series of photos of their trip on his Instagram page, including a portrait of Markle posing with World Trade Organization Secretary General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala during a visit to the Nigerian Army's defense headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.
"It was a great pleasure to observe and capture the amazing bonds and friendships they have with each other," Harriman captioned the post.
