Taylor Swift speaks Portuguese on stage and uses security to help fans
Taylor Swift bent the language muscles while on the stage in Portugal after noticing in the audience that fans needed assistance.
On Friday, 5/24, while conducting her history-making "Times Tour" in Lisbon, Portugal, the Tortured Poets division singer stopped on her way to perform her new song "The Smallest Man in the World" and asked to help fans in need of security. Swift is translated as "Ayuda por favor" in Portuguese, and in English it is translated as "Please help." She then pointed to an area in the crowd, according to a video clip posted by the Hollywood Reporter on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Swift again asked for help in Portuguese while playing the "champagne issue" while playing the piano, according to another video posted to X by a fan account.
It is unclear what was happening in the crowd or why the person attending the concert needed assistance.
Swift not only spoke Portuguese when asked for security to help her fans, but also evoked the country's native language to thank the attendees.
"Muito obrigada," she said on stage, addressing her fans as she put her hand on her heart, a video posted by the Hollywood Reporter of X further erupted in applause and loud cheers after Swift thanked the crowd in Portuguese, and the video showed. Then Swift incited herself before speaking with fans in English.
"Oh, Lisbon you...You're making me feel great right now!She said.
The concert marks Swift's return to the country, which was scheduled to perform in Portugal for the first time at the Alive festival in 2020, before being cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic on May 7.
In addition to practicing her Portuguese, Swift has been showing off her updated costume rotation during her latest leg of the "Times Tour".
In a recent interview, designer Christian Louboutin told Vogue he has created more than 250 custom shoes for Swift — 60 of which were created specifically for the European leg of the tour that kicked off in Paris, France earlier this month .
