King Charles and Queen Camilla cheer on horses bred by the late Queen Elizabeth
King Charles and Queen Camilla especially cheer on one special horse and enjoy their time away from the royal duties facing the public on the race track.
On Friday 5/31, the Royal Couple enjoyed the Epsom Derby Festival held at Epsom Downs Racecourse, especially expecting 1 horse to cross the finish line first. People report that Treasure, the horse of King Charles and Queen Camilla, competed in the Betfred Oaks race — a horse bred by the late Queen Elizabeth.
The publication reported that King Charles and Queen Camilla were "all smiles on the go" and the pair presented the Coronation Cup Trophy to their winning jockey, British jockey Ryan Moore.
Unfortunately, the late Queen Elizabeth's horse came in 12th out of 11 horse races.
For beginners, King Charles inherited his late mother's horse after she died in 2022/9. Shortly thereafter, the monarch sold some of the late Queen's horses, but this was unusual, according to Jimmy George, a spokesman for the Tattersall Auction House.
"It's not an ordinary thing," George told the BBC in an earlier interview. "Every year (the royal family) will sell horses. The Queen had her own brood filly; she would breed them and sell them. You can't keep them all.
Queen Elizabeth was a well-known lover of horses and an avid racehorse breeder. As the Tennessee Observatory reports, the Queen's father gave her a Shetland pony when she was 4 years old, which undoubtedly stimulated her lifelong love of horses.
"She frequently rode with trainer Terry Pendry, right up...96 years old," the publication reported at the time of her death. And one of her happiest moments, in a moment that clearly reminded her of how human she was, was when her own horse estimates were published in 2013 at Royal Asco
, according to the same publication, at just 11 years old the Queen made one of her "most famous statements" to date, and when she grew up "I wanted to be a horse." It should be.
King Charles and Queen Camilla did not have much luck at the racetrack during their latest visit, but they were winners last year at Royal Ascot, people reported
The Royal Couple's horse, Heroes of the Desert, won the King George V Stakes with publication notes, including a賞65,650 prize. Sky Sports reported at the time.
Queen Elizabeth's cousin, the Duke of Kent, awarded the couple a silver trophy to mark the victory. According to King Charles's niece Zara Tindall, the moment was "bittersweet."
"Given how proud the Queen's grandmother was, it was incredible to have Charles and Camilla winners and keep their dreams alive," Tindall told ITV Racing at the time.
