Selena Gomez says it's unclear if she will go on tour again, calling the experience "very emotionally exhausting for me
Selena Gomez's acting career is burning — she just won the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival for her titular role in the film Emilia Perez, her show is shooting season four of the Only murder in the Building, and the Limit of the Sky, Gomez is the best actress for portraying singer Linda Ronstadt in the upcoming biopic. It is the plan of the work. Not to forget that Gomez is also a talented musician, but she told TIME in a cover story interview that she doesn't know if she will tour again 8 years after suddenly canceling her "revival" tour because of her mental health struggles.
Gomez said she was "50-50" about whether or not she would tour again, calling the experience "very emotionally exhausting." But "It's very emotionally exhausting for me, and you realize you're surrounded by a lot of people you're paying for."
Gomez last toured in 2016 in an effort to support her third studio album, The Revival. According to Us Weekly, Gomez left the tour after 55 days and "checked into the treatment center amid growing anxiety and depression problems that were side effects of his fight against lupus," the outlet wrote, adding that Gomez was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 2015.
Her 2023 documentary, My Mind and Me, opened as Gomez was preparing for a global "revival" tour, and Gomez shed tears at rehearsals and said, "It looks so bad. I don't know what I'm doing"The pressure inside to put on the perfect show is attached, she continued, "I get a voice coming in my head that says, "You missed this." It was sucked. She added, "It sucked out my life and I don't want to play."
People close to Gomez said in my mind and in me that the tour was canceled because of a "psychotic break": "Her answer was like, "I don't know." I hope you can feel what it's like to be in my head, which I can't explain," said Raquel Stevens, Gomez's best friend. "I just remember it being very chaotic and she was hearing all of these voices."She added that it caused some kind of psychotic break." She finally returned to music in 2021 when she released a Spanish LP on May 3 Revelación, which was nominated for a Grammy. In 2023-8, she released the song "Single Soon" produced by Benny Blanco, but then she said she was not sure if she would make more music or not. (By the way, Blanco is also Gomez's boyfriend, almost 1 year.
"I feel like I have one more album in me, but I'll probably opt for acting," Gomez said on the "SmartLess" podcast back in May, "I'm tired, so I want to cool down."”
