Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will have to participate in national service if they pass through the UK — potentially including serving in the army
If the UK Conservative Party's plan to revive national service is adopted, if the party wins the general election on May 4, all 18-year-old citizens in the UK will be required to serve in the army or for 1 year through volunteering. After Prime Minister Rishi Snack announced the plan, the Conservatives confirmed to the Telegraph that the children of the British Royal Family (Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis) would not be exempt from this requirement and would need to serve like everyone else.
In addition to the children of the princes and princesses of Wales, other royal children like Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and other royal children like Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, who have no title but are still members of the Royal Family, need to serve as well.
The BBC reports that in the plan, an estimated 700,000 18-year-old citizens out of 30,000 will spend a year serving in the military in areas such as logistics, cybersecurity, civil response operations and procurement.; The rest, people reported, were "spending one weekend every month with organizations and volunteers such as the NHS, fire, ambulance, search and rescue, and critical local infrastructure for 12 months" of the plan
, "This bold new model will open up a world of opportunities," Sunak said in X (formerly known as Twitter). "It will ensure that young people in the UK get the same chance in the same life as fellow allies like Sweden, Norway, Denmark and France — all recently introduced or announced new forms of state service. Everyone will have a life-changing opportunity to learn from the best of the best - from the men and women of our armed forces, to our inspired NHS staff, or to acquire life skills in every field, from cyber to leadership. King Charles was the head of the army (part of his duties as monarch) and served in the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy from 1971 to 1976. His sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where William served with the Blues and Royals before working as a search and rescue helicopter pilot.Harry also served with the Blues and Royals and was deployed to Afghanistan 2 times.
Queen Elizabeth made history as the first woman in the Royal family to become a full-time member of the armed services when she was still Princess Elizabeth during World War II; "She persuaded her reluctant father, George 6, to allow her to join the army, sign auxiliary territorial services, wear uniforms and become a vehicle mechanic." "We've been working hard to make sure that we get the best out of it," People reports.
