AJ McLean had some doubts about Taylor Swift and how really nice she was...Until he met her.

In an interview with the latest episode of Curtis Stone's podcast "Getting Grilled with Curtis Stone," a member of the Backstreet Boys said the Tortured Poets division singer was "one of the most grounded, humble performers ever, in my opinion" and how her persona actually worked. He said he had questioned whether he was genuine.

"It's like:"OK, something must be off about you." There should be something like the dark side," she said.

Swift's true kindness was fully visible, McLean said, when she met his 11-year-old daughter not once, not twice, "three times."

"The last time she met her, she remembered her name.

McLean recalled the moment he was backstage with his eldest daughter Elliot (who used to go to Eva) at one of Swift's concerts on May 1.

"You know, we were behind the scenes," he said. (Swift) I'm back...And she's like: "Ava.And I was just like: "What" the mind was blown away.

McLean continued to explain the reasons behind the name change of his 11-year-old daughter (of course, not that it's not anyone's business).

"My daughter has now changed her name to Elliot: it has been Elliot for almost 4 years," he said. "It has nothing to do with sexual preferences or anything. She felt like her name was not unique, and she was watching Pete's dragon one day and Elliot was...So she wanted that name, but two T's. Ever since she was Elliot

McLean told her daughter "If you want to keep it, it's great, I support it, but we went to court legally"

" And when I said it, she was like: "Well, I'm not going to let it go." Maybe I'll keep it for a few more years and then I'll go back to Ava.

In an interview with people in 2022, McLean confirmed the right of her daughter to call the name she liked most and told the publication that her decision was a "personal choice."

"It's her body, it's her name, it's all about her." And she is still Eva. She's always going to be Ava for me," he told the publication at the time. "But at the same time, no matter what reasoning it is, it's hers and I'm going to support it 100 million percent, so will my wife.

McLean shares 2 daughters with his estranged wife, Rochelle.
