Why Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis attended today's "Trooping the Colour" with Princess Kate

Just as her mother, the Princess of Wales, has been away from the limelight as she faces health battle after health battle in 2024, her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, have also stayed out of the spotlight all year.

The last time Kate, her three children, and the five-member Welsh family, including Prince William, came together was last Christmas, when they and the rest of the royal family attended a traditional Christmas church service at St. Mary Magdalene at Sandringham Manor in April. Except for the portraits unveiled for Louis' and Charlotte's birthdays in May and the rather controversial Mother's Day portrait, the Welsh trio was rarely seen throughout 2024. George, Charlotte, and Louis made their first public appearance in 2024, when they joined their mother, the Princess of Wales, in celebrating their grandfather, King Charles (whom they call "Grandpa Wales"), at the monarch's annual birthday parade, Trooping the Colour". (Prince Charles' actual birthday was in November, and Queen Elizabeth's before that was in April, but June was chosen as the month for the monarch's birthday parade because of the generally good weather in London at that time, which unfortunately was not the case, at least not today.)

George, Charlotte, and Louis joined the rest of the Royal Family on the iconic balcony of Buckingham Palace after running alongside Kate in this morning's carriage procession to take part in the traditional Royal Air Force flypast to conclude the event. The Welsh trio has become a regular at Trooping the Colour in recent years, and the public was especially delighted to see Louis spooked on the balcony as loud airplanes flew overhead.

As difficult as it has been for their parents, and no doubt despite William and Kate's attempts to avoid it, it is not hard to imagine that George, Charlotte, and Louis have had a tough start to 2024. After Christmas six months ago, their mother underwent abdominal surgery scheduled for January 16 at the London Clinic and remained in the hospital until January 29, about two weeks later. The following month, in February, Kate learned that the cancer had been discovered during the previous month's surgery, and the stress of what became known as "cathagate" or "photogate" in early March no doubt took its toll on her as she began preventive chemotherapy. on March 22, the Internet and social media conspiracy theories and speculation, Kate confirmed in a brave video message that she had been diagnosed with cancer. Her father, William, has returned to work while still prioritizing Kate's care and that of their children, keeping her as well as the children away from the public eye.

Royal writer Katie Nichol told The Sun that William has a huge "burden and burden" on him, "He's playing the Prince of Wales brilliantly and perfectly, but I think it's taking its toll on him at the moment. 'He's going through a lot. It's a reminder that the royal family are people just like us." [George, Charlotte, and Louis were apparently a big reason why Kate herself chose to participate in Trooping the Colors today, when William rode in the parade on horseback.

"The Sun" reported, "The Princess of Wales is looking forward to riding in the carriage with her children at the event. "Nicole told "Entertainment Tonight" that her appearance at Trooping the Color was a "very positive and happy surprise" because before Kate's announcement yesterday, it was unclear whether her health would allow her to attend.

"It's a very important image to share with the world," Nicole said. 'When you go up on that balcony, you see the Royal Family together, despite the turbulent times they've been through. And I think that sends a really important message."

Nicole added that in a photo of Kate, taken by Matt Porteous and released with a statement that she will attend the June 15 event, the Princess of Wales "looks incredibly healthy and very, very well."

"Hello" reported that George, Charlotte, and Louis "were key to Princess Kate's return to the spotlight," with one source telling the magazine that "she wanted to be there to support her family" and that "supporting her children, really, was and will continue to be," adding.
