Kensington Palace Shuts Down Kate Middleton's Latest Hoax
The rampant false conspiracy theories surrounding the Princess of Wales and her health and well-being lasted for a year (or rather a lifetime): from the Palace's announcement that she had undergone scheduled abdominal surgery on January 16, to Kate's own brave announcement on March 22 that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing treatment, a dark It was a dark period. (Prince Charles announced his diagnosis on February 5, after undergoing surgery at the London Clinic scheduled for January and beginning treatment)
.
Hopefully not a second wave of Kate conspiracy theorists, but the latest Kate speculation seems to have come out of nowhere: she is not in England, but in Houston, Texas, undergoing cancer treatment at the city's renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center. According to Town & Country, this theory was amplified by the now-popular TikTok, which referenced a recent Reddit post in which Kate was heard to be staying at St. Regis Houston while undergoing treatment.
Now, let's stop here. If our primary sources are Reddit and TikTok, let's pause and pause before we believe them. In a new article in the Houston Chronicle, a Kensington Palace representative denied the story and said it was false. The Houston Chronicle also contacted MD Anderson, which, of course, declined to comment, citing patient privacy laws.
In addition, local news station KHOU contacted the BBC, which told their royal sources that Kate had not left the UK since her cancer diagnosis earlier this year, reported around February.
The Palace told Us Weekly, "We have been very clear that [Kate] needs space and privacy to recover now. She will return to work once her doctors give her the green light."
Another conspiracy theory worth debunking is that Kate has not returned to royal duties at all, which a source speaking to Harper's Bazaar called "unfair and untrue": there is no information about Kate's "return." Because the focus at the moment is 100% on her health," said one source. 'It is unfair and untrue to suggest that she will not return to the role. No such talk has been made. When the time comes, she will resume her work."
Royal writer Katie Nicole said that, thankfully, the news surrounding Kate's cancer treatment and progress is positive and that the princess has "turned the corner" recently. 'She's tolerating this preventive chemotherapy well,' Nicole told Entertainment Tonight. 'I think it was tough in the beginning. She's tolerating this prophylactic chemotherapy very well.
Nicole added, "We're getting reports from the public that she's out. I heard from one person that she was out with her children (Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis). That is a really positive sign."
