Women of "Bridgerton" Redefine Regency Core in Season 3 Part 2 Premiere

In the coded Bridgerton world of the Regency era, wearing a revealing skirt or nude dress in public would invite the kind of scandal that would keep the series' anonymous gossip writer, Lady Whistledown, in business: 2024, season 3 part 2 On the red carpet at the premiere, centuries-old style rules have disappeared, and the ladies of Bridgerton are taking advantage.

Arriving at the preview in London, England, on Wednesday, June 12, the cast pushed the definition of "Regency Core" (the romantic, pastoral aesthetic that inspired the show's costumes) in an exciting direction.

First, season lead Nicolas Coughlan looked like a modern-day Aphrodite in a custom-made blush pink Rodarte gown. Styled by Emme Croisdil, her outfit consisted of a column dress with fluttering petal detailing on the bodice, burgundy gloves lined with the same pink petals, and an ethereal veil pinned to her hair. If one didn't know that Coughlan plays Penelope Fetherington, the romantic lead of Bridgton Season 3, one could guess from her styling that she is the true diamond of this season of the show.

Simone Ashley, working with stylist Rebecca Corbin Murray, stayed with the same dusty pink palette. Instead of a sweetly romantic outfit, she pushed the boundaries with a satin bustier top accented with see-through sleeves and a coordinating see-through skirt. Her sheer dress, designed by Milan-based brand Del Core, felt like a nod to the clandestine meetings and romantic dalliances that characterized Bridgerton Season 2, in which she played the role of Kate Sharma.

The supporting cast added a silver metallic twist to the corsets and draped skirts seen in Bridgerton's on-screen costumes. Jessica Madsen, who plays Lady Cressida Cowper, ditched the towering wigs and intricate dresses for a regal halter crop top and translucent lattice sequin skirt by Fendi Couture. Meanwhile, a corseted Versace mini-dress with a meltingly draped waistline felt like a socialite fashion reinvented for Hannah Dodd as Francesca Bridgerton.

While the above looks pushed Regency Core in a new direction, more modest (but no less romantic) outfits still existed; Adjoa Andoh and Claudia Jessie wore elegant and understated, ruffled sleeves and plunging They chose black midi dresses with ruffled sleeves and plunging necklines that were elegant and modest.

Golda Rochevell, the queen Charlotte of the series, continued her regal demeanor with stylist Jason Rembert. She wore a Mary Katrantzou cape gown with a royal blue skirt and floral print. One Instagram commenter's response summed up the sentiment of everyone watching the premiere: "Yes, Queen."

By the time the second part of the season is available on Netflix, there will be dozens of candy-like corset dresses and towering wigs to dissect. But for now, let's just admire the finale of the cast's red carpet circuit: a series of dresses that succeeded in giving a fresh take on the show's romantic aesthetic. For fans, it's the last moment for the cast to come together: showrunner Jess Brownell told the Hollywood Reporter that they'll have to wait two years for the next season.

Dear gentle reader, your patience will be rewarded. 'My season in the Writer's Room is coming to an end. And it feels like some of my best work, some of my best work in the Writer's Room," Brownell said. 'Our collaboration is going really well and we're firing on all cylinders. Until then, we can shrug it off with red carpets and reruns of the first three seasons.
