Miley Cyrus Says She "Inherited Narcissism" from Father Billy Ray Cyrus
Miley Cyrus shared her candid thoughts on family in a recent interview with David Letterman for the Netflix show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. ...
"I inherited narcissism from my father, too, and I don't know anything about my own siblings," the singer told Letterman at one point, seemingly half-jokingly.
When the host asked Miley if her father was her hero, Miley carefully considered her response and said, "Honestly, my mother is my hero, and I'm grateful to my father. My father had great hair and I inherited it."
She continued, explaining that Billy Ray Cyrus was always very down to earth, "I'm thankful I got to see him first. He almost gave me this map of what to do and what not to do, and he guided me on both."
The "Flowers" hitmaker explained that he was very different from his father because of the extreme difference in their upbringings: she had a very comfortable childhood while Billy Ray grew up in poverty and with divorced parents.
"There was a lot of empathy and compassion in his childhood, which obviously made him who he is today, and I have a lot of love for him," she said.
When Letterman asked Miley if she thinks 50% of her success today is due to her mother, Tish Cyrus, and her father, Billy Ray, she said, "They're different. You can't put them on the same scale.
Still, Miley said, "If it weren't for my father, ...... stressed that "who I am would not exist. Because the way my father's brain works, as a creative and an artist, has always put me at ease.
Miley and Billy Ray co-starred in the Disney Channel show "Hannah Montana" from 2006 to 2011, playing a very close father and daughter.
In real life, however, Miley now seems to be closer to her mother. Last summer, Miley attended a wedding with her siblings Trace and Brandi, but siblings Noah and Brayson were absent.
Since then, there have been rumors of strife in the Cyrus family, which flared up when Miley appeared to belittle her father in her acceptance speech at the Grammy Awards this past February.
