Pop's newest It Girl is playing dress-up. Sabrina Carpenter was spotted out in Paris on Tuesday (June 11) wearing a skirt suit like the one from Clueless. But instead of Cher Horowitz's yellow and black plaid set, Carpenter opted for a white and ink tweed with frayed edges and replaced Horowitz's kilt style with pleats.

Carpenter is known for her onstage fashion, a cross between a pin-up model, a burlesque dancer, and a Gen Z e-girl. She is a big fan of miniskirts, corsets, and generally flirty feminine styles, mixing up-and-coming designers like Frolov with fashion month staples like Versace with a dash of intimacy from brands like Victoria's Secret The company has a strong presence in the marketplace. The skirt suit, which stylists Jason Bolden and Ron Hartleben did not reveal the tag, is a clear departure from her typical lookbook. But it makes sense for her next step to something a little more sophisticated and preppy.

The pop star wore a matching skirt suit over a crisp white button-up. Carpenter's long hair was blow-dried and teased into a mane of Hollywood actress-like bounce, courtesy of her hairstylist, Scott King.

She is not the only celebrity who is taking the office-core trend by storm. This week, actress Ayo Edebili wore a turquoise blue shorts suit with Bermuda shorts, cropped pants, and an oversized blazer. In recent months, Zendaya wore a vintage neon green pencil skirt suit by Mu Gray and a custom-made white skirt suit by Calvin Klein, with only a Bulgari snake necklace under the blazer.

Business attire is now a favorite way for celebrities to dress. Kendall Jenner wore a monochromatic olive-colored outfit with a double-breasted blazer and pleated pants. Beyoncé wore a khaki Ferragamo suit and matching ten-gallon hat earlier this year for a business cowboy look inspired by a millionaire who owns a ranch. Rihanna gave her workwear a David Byrne look from "Stop Making Sense" with an ultra-baggy tailored jacket. And let's not forget Gigi Hadid. He wore not one, but two suit sets in one day.

Sabrina Carpenter eschewed masculine menswear and challenged existing trends by giving classic suits a girly makeover. Along with Prada's color-changing lip balm, it fits the micro-mini silhouette she wears in her recent "Please Please Please" music video.

The "Espresso" singer began plotting a street style takeover more than six years ago; in a 2018 interview with Glamour, Carpenter said she looks to other pop icons for outfit inspiration." I don't leave the house looking like Rihanna, but I try to be that bold."
