Jason Kells called Taylor Swift and Travis Kells' celebrity level "crazy" and said that with that level of fame, "you can't be normal."
The Kelseys were famous before their brother Travis started dating Taylor Swift last year, but Swift, and consequently the Kelseys, are now famous on a whole other level. Jason Kells calls that fame "crazy" and tells the podcast Whiskey Ginger that when you reach that level of fame, the possibility of being normal goes out the window.
The Philadelphia Eagles center, who announced his retirement from the NFL earlier this year, said of his family's fame, "Travis and Taylor took it to another level." He added, "It's a whole other aspect. [My wife] Kylie and I feel bad about ourselves and we kinda hang out with one of them a little bit. We can't be normal at that point."
The Kelsey family consists of parents Donna and Ed and brothers Jason and Travis, who also plays in the NFL as a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs (not that you could have known that fact). Jason said the 2023 Amazon Prime documentary "Kelce" brought the family fame, but nothing like when Swift entered their lives. He admitted that he was "a little bit, but uncomfortable" with "how famous" Kylie had become.
"Our family is out in the world, and everybody knows what our kids look like," Jason said of his and Kylie's three daughters. 'But I think she enjoys that. But I think she enjoys going out to charities and giving back to the community and putting on clinics with little girls in field field hockey." Jason added that Kylie "enjoys that aspect" of fame but is "hesitant" about other areas of celebrity, adding that "it's hard to be available all the time." [In February, Jason appeared on Shaquille O'Neal's podcast, "The Big Podcast with Shaq," to discuss the "drawbacks" Travis has. He explained that Travis moved to his previous home "for safety" because "people were staying by his house": "The new house is in a gated community, and the first day we moved in, someone knocked on the back door [window] of the house," Jason said.
But as Jason said on the podcast Whiskey Ginger, "I think anytime you're doing something like that, it's often a very great interaction. The vast majority of people are respectful and appreciative." We're lucky to be where we are, and it's because of people who are really, really big fans of ours. (11]
In an interview with ABC News, Travis opened up about his life in the limelight, telling the media, "I've always been a down-to-earth guy. I've always been a down-to-earth guy. I may not look like that when I'm playing football, but off the field, I just want to be a pure person."
And maybe even a little normal?
