Jennifer Lopez's Tour Cancellation Was Not Due to Ticket Sales
Jennifer Lopez herself once sang, "Love doesn't pay."
Several media outlets reported that Lopez's summer tour, "This Is Me...Live," which was scheduled for June through August before being canceled on May 31. Live," which had been scheduled for June through August before Lopez's cancellation on May 31. He said, "If [she] did this [cancel] early on, then there must have been a problem with ticket sales.
"This Is Me. . Live" would have been Lopez's first concert tour in five years, since "It's My Party" in 2019, which celebrated her 50th birthday in July of that year.
After canceling some dates earlier this year, the tour was renamed from its original name, "This Is Me. Now" (the same name as Lopez's latest album, released in February) to "This Is Me.... Live" and focused more on the great hits vibe. Incidentally, Lopez's debut album, On the 6 (1999), was released 25 years ago this month.
Instead of low ticket sales, Lopez apparently canceled the tour to focus on her marriage to Ben Affleck. Friends of Lopez told the Daily Mail that the multi-fenestrator would "give up being J.Lo" and "be willing to make any sacrifice, including losing his shine," to save his marriage. (I don't know how we feel about her going that far, but I respect her for making the effort to protect the relationship.)
"She doesn't want a divorce," the friend said. She can't stand the thought of failing," they added.
After weeks of speculation about the state of her marriage following Affleck's absence from the Met Gala, which Lopez co-chaired on May 6, on May 31, Lopez finally canceled a tour that was scheduled to begin in Orlando on June 26. According to a statement released at the time, the reason was to allow Lopez time to spend with her "children, family, and close friends."
