Katie Holmes Reveals Suri Cruz Will Inherit Mom's Best Costume

Oh, how I wish I could be Suri Cruise. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Katie Holmes, star of Dawson's Creek, revealed that she is saving some of her best costumes to pass down to her daughter.

"I save them here and there. But she has her own sense of style and expression," Holmes said of his 18-year-old daughter.

And Cruz seems to know that she has a treasure trove. Holmes joked about his daughter borrowing his clothes, saying, "Sometimes the basics are absolutely gone. But that's okay."

The mother-daughter duo is already on the same stylistic wavelength. Just last month, the two had a mother-daughter matching moment in baggy jeans. Holmes wore a cream trench coat over an oatmeal sweater and slouchy high-waisted denim. Cruz complemented her outfit with a Canadian tuxedo, a medium-wash denim barn jacket with a camel-colored corduroy collar, and brown Birkenstock clogs.

With Holmes' timeless closet, Cruz would have the look of a lifetime. Holmes' fashion sense is on full display as the seasons change. Last week, she checked out the colors of summer in a buttery yellow silk midi dress, traveled boldly in wide-leg jeans, and attended the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City in a small top and big pants twist on the trend. She also effortlessly pulled off three outfit changes in one day. A new record?

When speaking with Marie Claire about the new A.P.C. collection, Holmes spoke about the spirit behind the simple yet aspirational style that Cruz has already emulated: "I don't like to have a lot of stuff. I don't like to have a lot of things.

Holmes' style has not always been this way, and her daughter has influenced her fashion evolution. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Holmes said, "When my kids were really little, I was drawn to wearing a lot of dresses. As you become a mother and go through different stages, you figure out what you feel comfortable in and what you don't want to wear. So over the years my style has changed all over the place."

She continues, "I like to mix and match classic pieces. I also like vintage. Living in New York, I have to have things that are practical and comfortable. The city influences my style.

Cruz will carry on her mother's casual-cool fashion legacy, including her mother's beloved Mansur Gavriel tote bag, her summer-trendy overalls, and her Gucci loafers.
