Jennifer Lopez transforms a semi-sheer, low-back beach cover-up into an evening gown.

Jennifer Lopez has always favored the high-low look, mixing casual with classy by pairing a fur coat with a baseball cap, sweatpants, and a Birkin bag. Over the weekend, J.Lo decided to branch out in several directions at once, merging nude dressing with vacation dressing in a sheer, backwards crochet dress.

Lopez was spotted hitting the town in an all-beige look late on Saturday, June 8. Her outfit included an unusual cream crocodile crocodile birkin bag and Elie Saab crushed velvet peep-toe platform heels. And a long bell-sleeved Song of Style floor-length knit maxi dress. The singer-slash-entertainer also accessorized with large hoops and classic slickback ponytails from Jenny From the Block.

On Revolve's website, the listing for the Song of Style Idra Open Stitch Maxi Dress in Ivory shows a model wearing briefs under a sheer dress and is lined with three keyholes from neck to navel. In the weekend photo, however, Lopez wears the dress in reverse, with the keyholes in the back and a boat-neck neckline instead of a fuller cut. (Unfortunately, Lopez's dress is sold out.

Lopez is the latest woman to join the "cover-up as evening dress" trend. Last week, Kaia Gerber wore a little black vacation dress alongside Camila Morrone, who was clad in a see-through knit set. As the weather heats up and mesh continues its fashion takeover, we'll be seeing a lot more (skin) exposure.

Lopez's recent street style is elegant yet minimal with neutral tones. Over the weekend, she wore a simple white tank and baggy, high-waisted khaki pants. And last week, she showed off her work attire with a plaid blazer and frayed-hemmed wide-leg jeans.

With summer in full swing, Lopez's unconventional, backward-looking styling hacks could elevate the same old beach cover-up. Wear her crochet look-inspired pieces however you like.
