Karen Spencer has released her first public statement since the news of her impending divorce broke.

"I just wanted to say that I was overwhelmed with messages of love and support," she wrote along with various pictures of the evening commemorating the summer solstice.

"Thanks, it really means a lot to me," she continued with the caption. "I'm just processing at the moment. It will come back to you soon. ♥ I wanted to share some photos from the summer solstice gathering last night.

On 6/9, the 9th Earl Spencer publicly confirmed the end of his marriage to Countess Spencer, telling the Daily Mail that the split was "very sad.""The pair had been married for almost 13 years.

"I just want to devote myself to all my children and grandchildren," Spencer told the publication at the time. "And I wish Karen all happiness in the future.

According to the Daily Mail, the former couple's staff knew of their impending divorce on May 3.

The same report found that Spencer's relationship with the Countess was "resolved amid the tension of writing a harrowing memoir detailing the physical and sexual abuse he suffered at boarding school," in addition, Charles Spencer told his staff that "five years of work on his memoir" had a major impact on him and that he was "undergoing residential treatment for trauma late last year." It is reported that the two men were killed in the attack.

In a previous interview with people, Spencer opened up about how supportive his wife was while he was writing his memoir.

"Karen has been supportive," he told the publication at the time. "I think it was very difficult for her to have a husband to go through what was essentially four and a half years of the most profound treatment with very difficult undertones to it. And she supported the idea that I was doing it.

"I think she always wanted me to be happier and healthier," he added. "And it seems very likely. So, while I'm going through this, I'm grateful that she's standing by me, what I've now noticed was an essential process.

In a previous Instagram post, Karen Spencer shared that "We have recently spent a lot of time pondering about family, people, who and what shape us."

In a post honoring Mother's Day, she went on to say that she believes that "the most influential person in our lives is our mother."
